Identifier Extraction

At Viewport.ai, we specialize in creating intelligent software tailored for the process industry. Our innovative software is designed to make vast amounts of technical data easily accessible. One key aspect of our software involves extracting alphanumeric identifiers from documentation, including technical installations, document numbers, and pipe numbers.

We're seeking a motivated intern to help us enhance this process by training a neural network to accurately extract these identifiers from text.

What you will be doing

- Developing and training a neural network model to accurately extract alphanumeric identifiers from various types of technical documentation, including installation manuals, document numbers, and line numbers.

- Collecting, preparing, and annotating datasets for training the model, ensuring a diverse range of technical documents are represented.

- Evaluating and implementing machine learning algorithms to optimize the accuracy and efficiency of identifier extraction.

- Collaborating with the software development team to integrate the identifier extraction model into the existing Viewport.ai platform, enhancing its capability to process and analyze technical data.

- Conducting performance analysis of the extraction model, using metrics such as precision, recall, and F1 score to assess and improve its functionality.

Requirements

- A proactive and investigative mindset.

- Proficiency in development and programming languages.

- A solid understanding of machine learning (ML) principles and tools.

- The ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

We are an IT company based in Amsterdam. We provide technical information and knowledge management Software, called Viewport.ai. The software is delivered as product or as a service (SaaS) to their process industry customer in Water, Power, Oil and Gas and chemical sectors worldwide. Customers include Engie, WML, Total, Wintershall, BASF, and Spirit Energy.

The Viewport.ai software detects cross links between documents, drawings and data from various sources using techniques as OCR, image processing, and fuzzy matching. These cross links offers end users an unprecedented unified view of the available information and assists them in maintaining consistency across multiple domains.

What students are we looking for?

We are looking for graduated bright engineers with a broad interest and an entrepreneurial spirit. We believe that software should solve real-world problems for our customers, and should be easy to use. Having customer focus with an agile mindset is therefore a must. Development is done primarily in C#, JavaScript and SQL. For the adventurous type we may have projects abroad, e.g. UK, Norway, UAE, Singapore, and Australia.
